It's a challenge for Australia to break new ground.

The highest peaks have long been mastered.

We're talking about the unit that has won seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to another six T20 titles, and earlier maintained nearly four years without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, targeted by the record chasers, are what's still available for a squad that has achieved everything.

It needed until Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to accomplish their maiden ODI chase exceeding 300, regaining their record for the highest in the female 50-over format, is, honestly, a compliment to the bowlers that have sported the yellow jersey over the past 50 years.

It's difficult for their batsmen to maintain a record if not afforded the opportunity.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the final and was awarded tournament MVP. She ensured her country would not come up short.

If this recent magnificent innings topped that previous effort is debatable.

Some will argue the case for championship match pressure. Others can counter with the challenge that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's definite is this century was considerably tougher to anticipate.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 happened while she was the highest scorer, but this innings followed six innings in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"If you've been watching me in the nets, it was a challenging time because I feel like I lacked timing completely," stated Healy.

"But once you enter the playing area, your competitive instincts activate and you completely engage with the match."

Healy's competitive nature has always been her key asset - and a priceless quality in succeeding legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, fallen to the emerging pace bowler in all three matches, but this time it merely gave Healy's motivation.

A single was taken off the opening delivery and from there the right-hander was on her way.

"The possibility to go out there and face the challenge with her and just have a bit of fun in that regard, sort of got me going," commented Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 balls - her quickest at the global tournament - and her hundred in 84 balls as she punished short deliveries, hitting 21 fours and three maximums.

When she was out her side needed 66 additional runs at one run per ball - a manageable total now needing a comfortable finish.

"Chasing 330 runs is uncharted waters so I'm happy we have the belief to accomplish that now," continued Healy.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to repeat it but, if we do, we are confident we can achieve it."

Those words will be the ultimate thing competing nations at this World Cup want to hear.

During the last week a feeling they will triumph from any situation has only strengthened - this victory coming after win against Pakistan by 107-run victory despite being 76-7 at one point.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a match against old rivals England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a last-four spot may well be secure.

During that phase they were eliminated from the previous year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - an encounter Healy was absent due to torn tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the initial instance at a significant event.

Such is her determination, she later said she wished she had played despite the injury.

Yet even as she later admitted those physical issues have pushed back consideration of ending her career, this tournament is expected to be her final tournament as skipper in 50-over cricket and she is hasn't yet secured a global event as skipper.

Triumph in India would take her to the summit of her ultimate challenge.
