One extended cruise through the Australian Coast is being halted following the tragic passing of an elderly lady who was left behind by the cruise liner on a isolated coastal location.

The passenger had been trekking on Lizard Island with other travelers from the vessel, but parted ways from the group for a pause. The liner sailed away leaving her and went back later that day after the crew became aware the lady was unaccounted for.

A major search operation located her person the following day.

Authorities are investigating the event, together with police and the official investigator.
